Henry turned to the CEO.

“Linda,” he said pleasantly. “This report is in our shared document system, isn't it?”

“It is.”

“Would you mind opening the version history? On the big screen. I'm an old man, and I like to know when good work was started.”

Linda looked at Trevor. Trevor had gone the color of skim milk.

Linda clicked.

A panel opened on the side of the giant screen. A long list of dates and names.

The whole board turned to look at Trevor.

He didn't say anything. There was nothing to say.

Henry Lambert leaned forward.

“Linda,” he said quietly, “is Abby Turner in the building today?”

Linda looked past the long table. Past the board members. To the row of chairs against the back wall.

“I believe,” she said, “she's sitting right at the back.”
